Discovering the World of Work through National Careers Week
We’ve had an exciting week at our campus celebrating National Careers Week. Our learners explored the world of work in fun and engaging ways.
On Monday, we helped learners reflect on their hobbies, interests, and the skills they use daily. Our Willow pathway took part in wonderful practical activities. They tried on different job uniforms and acted out roles such as vets, barbers, police officers, and chefs. Everyone joined in with enthusiasm, and we even had a few playful “arrests”.
On Tuesday, they explored how job adverts are set out. We also introduced something very exciting: for the first time, we shared a list of work experience roles available at our campus. Learners applied, and interviews took place on Friday. Successful applicants will support our admin, site, or kitchen teams for one hour a week over six weeks. We will confirm their start dates soon.
We encourage families to continue the conversation at home with their child, focusing on their skills and hobbies to help build confidence as they prepare for future opportunities.
