Year 9 Transition Visit to Capel Manor

As part of their transition programme, all Year 9 classes visited Capel Manor in preparation for next year. Lister Class were the first to take part in this exciting opportunity and enjoyed a busy and  two‑day learning experience.

During the visit, students worked in a large greenhouse, where they planted peas and learned about different types of soil and how plants grow. They used simple hand tools like trowels to dig and loosen the soil. Students also worked outside weeding flower beds, learning how to spot weeds and understanding that not all plants need to be removed.

The class also spent time at the zoo learning about animals such as rabbits, goats, donkeys, and alpacas. They enjoyed feeding the goats and learning how to care for animals. Learnrs also explored the maze and took part in pond dipping, where they looked closely at pond life and worked together to identify a fish.

Overall, Lister Class had a great experience, building practical skills, teamwork, and confidence while enjoying learning outside the classroom.
