A week of Fun Learning

On Tuesday, we were invited to the weekly boxing club where learners were shown different stances, hooks, and how to duck and keep their guard up. It was incredible to witness their teamwork and confidence. Even better, each learner will earn an AQA Award qualification by the end of the course.

Lister Class spent last Friday in the professional kitchen at Horizon Campus. Working with our new professional chef, they mastered some brilliant new cooking skills.

They prepared a delicious apple crumble and tropical fruit salad, learning techniques like stoning and grating apples, controlling butter temperature, and even the ‘hedgehog’ method for cutting mangoes. Many learners even tried pumpkin seeds, papaya, and mango for the first time.

With the colder winter days continuing, this is the perfect time to build on these skills at home. Why not try baking a crumble together? It’s a simple, hands‑on way to practise cooking techniques and enjoy a warm treat as a family.
