Campus update

Travel trainers, Sean and Chelsea, have been busy working with our students, and other local learners with an EHCP, helping them to become independent travellers.

Sean has been delivering our travel training programme for a year. When we asked him what he loved most about his role, he said, “I enjoy being in a position to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to travel independently and with an emphasis on travelling safely. It's great to see the new opportunities and experiences that independent travel can bring”.

Chelsea, who is new to the team, has fantastic knowledge of local bus routes as she previously worked as a bus driver for TfL. She’s finding her new role diverse and rewarding.  Chelsea told us, “I really enjoy getting to meet the students and building their confidence on public transport so they can be more independent. It's very rewarding."

Lee Bagley, our Preparing for Adulthood Coordinator, oversees the travel programme. She's our first point of call for any referrals to the service and works with teachers, families and students to identify students who are ready to begin their travel training.

Lee is always looking for feedback on the service and would welcome your comments and or suggestions.  Please get in touch with any feedback or to request more information about travel training via ITT@westleaschool.co.uk

You can also find useful documents here.

We wish our interns all the best as they embark on their employment journey through the supported internship programme.
