Campus update

We've all been busy at work

Work experience is a chance for students to find out more about themselves. It helps them to discover what they like to do and what inspires them. They get to try out different types of work in a safe and supported way.

Horizon students take part in work experience one day a week. Some do group work experience and others have individual placements. This is the beginning of their journey into work as they explore careers first hand.

This term, Kris Dunnage started his role as Work Experience (WEX) Coordinator. Kris has been working with staff and students to make the work experience even better. He is busy visiting the learners at work and has been lending a helping hand.

Kris has seen learners in action at the coffee cart, baking and gardening project at St Aldhelm’s church. And the printing project at BloQs. In both settings, the students had big smiles on their faces and were busy and happy working.

We are always looking for new work experience opportunities. If you own a business or work for a company that could offer a placement, please get in touch.

We wish our interns all the best as they embark on their employment journey through the supported internship programme.
