Campus update

Thinking and planning ahead

Although we are still in the first half of the Autumn Term our learners and their families are already being asked to think ahead to next academic year.

SEN departments are writing to all students approaching age 16 and those aged 16 and over.  They are asking what their plans are for September 2025.

This week I’ve been speaking to students to find out if they would recommend Horizon campus to other students.

They’ve had some really insightful responses.  They were able to tell me why they think other students might like to join.  They told me they had very kind teachers.  Others talked about the nice big classrooms at our new Ponders End site.  One student said the new training kitchen is a great addition.  Others loved the media suite.  Students on our supported internship programme said their Job Coaches were really supportive.

Those who moved onto the programme after a year on the pre-internship said their confidence has really grown and now they feel ready to get a job.

I also heard some great ideas for how to make the campus even better.  We talked about how we can make lunch times more fun.  We’ll be introducing some new lunch time clubs, music and sports equipment.

If you currently have a child in year 11 and would like to find out more about Horizon campus please join us for our Sixth Form Open evening on Thursday 24th October.

If you would like to hear more about the pre-internship and supported internship programmes you’re welcome to join our SIP Open evening on Tuesday 22nd October.

Both will run from 5-6pm at Horizon Campus, Ponders End site.
