Campus update

Flourishing people = flourishing pupils = flourishing communities

This week’s INSET day was dedicated to Partnering for Performance (P4P). P4P is West Lea’s approach to performance management and people development.

We know that flourishing staff help our pupils to flourish. This in turn leads to flourishing communities. This magic formula is what makes West Lea school so special.

All of our staff met with their managers. We set performance objectives and goals for our own learning. ‘Learning for life’ is one of West Lea’s core values.

We champion ongoing professional development. We must be able to adapt and meet the needs of our students.

We also celebrated a key milestone for one of our longest serving members of staff. Lee Bagley has served the West Lea community for more than 25 years!

Hundreds of students have benefited from the travel training that Lee (Ms Bagley!) has coordinated. Her work contributes to the breaking down of barriers. Students gain independence by travelling in the local community.

Also, thank you to Tara Smith for a great session on 'Colourful Semantics'. This is a way of supporting students with sentence structure.

For tips on how to use 'Colourful Semantics' at home, take a look at this YouTube video
