Work Experience

We’re putting the spotlight on work experience (WEX) this week.  It’s an important part of the curriculum at Horizon. 

Did you know all Horizon students have work experience on their timetables at least one day a week?  WEX helps to prepare our students for adulthood and moving into employment in the future.

Some students access individual WEX placements. Others take part in supported WEX as a whole class.  They learn transferable skills such as teamwork and problem solving. 

Students also learn specific skills related to their role. Roles may include: a barista, caterer, gardener and more. Staff regularly monitor student progress at WEX.  They’ve been busy taking lots of photos for us to share with you this week!
