Learning from the World of Work

This week, our junior interns took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to the Natural History Museum - a trip they helped plan from start to finish.

Learners worked together to choose the destination, discuss options, and plan the day, putting their teamwork and communication skills into action. On the day, they developed independent travel skills by navigating their route from Southbury Station (near Ponders End) to South Kensington (near the museum).

Inside the museum, they explored exhibits and were challenged to identify the different jobs and roles it takes to run such a large public space. From tour guides using their speaking skills to shop staff demonstrating customer service, the interns could see how many different people and talents keep the museum running.

As junior interns preparing for employment, this was a fun and inspiring way to understand how they might use their own skills in the world of work.
