Learning Real‑World Skills at Work Experience

Packham Class had a great week at their supported work experience placement at St Aldhelm’s Church in Edmonton. They welcomed visitors from the Learning for Life Charity, including trustees and benefactors, who came to see the impact of their support.

During the visit, learners confidently shared the skills they are building through their WEX programme:

  • Barista skills – preparing and serving hot drinks
  • Baking – making and sharing fresh cookies
  • Gardening – helping care for the church grounds

Visitors praised the learners as “amazing” and were impressed by their confidence, professionalism, and the support from the Horizon staff team. Seeing the learners thrive in a real community setting showed just how valuable these opportunities are.

We are very proud of Packham Class and thankful to St Aldhelm’s Church, the Horizon team, and the Learning for Life Charity for making this possible.
