A Creative Journey: Art at Horizon

Every week, Year 12 and 13 learners start with an inspiring art lesson led by local artists. These sessions set a positive tone for the week and give learners a space to explore ideas, build skills, and express themselves.

Throughout the year, learners have worked on a range of creative projects. In the Autumn Term, they focused on printing and book making, experimenting with mark-making, patterns, and sequencing. They also explored how ideas can be developed and repeated, creating handmade books that showed storytelling, process, and presentation.

In the Spring Term, learners explored Pop Art sculpture inspired by Claes Oldenburg. They turned everyday objects into bold, colourful 3D pieces, building confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. They also created “Box Rooms,” designing small dream spaces using recycled materials, each reflecting their personality and interests.

Now, learners are bringing their ideas together in a campus mural, working as a team on a large artwork that will leave a lasting mark on Horizon and celebrate their shared creative journey.
