Preparing for Adulthood: Learning About Independent Living

This week our Junior Interns took part in a helpful session about independent living. We were pleased to welcome Eleanor, a former West Lea learner, who shared her personal experience of moving into assisted independent living.

Eleanor talked about why she decided to live more independently, the support she receives, and what young people should think about when planning their future living choices. She also spoke about balancing work, day services, and independence, which helped learners understand what adult life can be like after college.

The Junior Interns were very engaged and asked thoughtful questions about housing, support, and independence. Getting real insights from a former learner made the session relatable and inspiring.

We look forward to welcoming Eleanor back in the future.
