Making Maths Matter
This summer term, learners have shown great determination and confidence while working towards qualifications from Entry Level 1 to GCSE.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work, resilience, and commitment. A special well done goes to those completing resits and to learners who travelled from other campuses, including Learning for Life, to sit exams, showing real dedication.
At West Lea, Maths goes beyond exams. Our curriculum helps learners develop essential skills for independence, employment and everyday life through practical, engaging activities linked to real-world experiences.
This term, learners explored measurement and statistics through a range of hands-on activities. One class created a colourful rainbow display of paper strips in different sizes, carefully measuring, comparing and ordering them. In statistics lessons, learners interviewed classmates about their favourite computer games before recording the results in frequency tables and presenting their findings in bar graphs.
A fantastic example of real-world learning came from the pre-intern class, Braun, who completed a measuring project around the campus. Learners measured rooms and outdoor areas to support the site team, applying skills such as measuring length and area, recording data and working collaboratively.
We are extremely proud of everything our learners have achieved this term and congratulate them all on their progress and success in maths.
