LEARNING FOR LIFE CAMPUS

9th February 2024

Campus update

This week, our students have been budding scientists!

Year 10 have been learning about blood, and doing experiments to show the four parts of blood in a bottle.

They used yellow dye for plasma, cereal for red blood cells, marshmallows for white blood cells, and pom poms for platelets. They learnt what blood is made of and what each part does for the body.

The Year 11s have been learning about bean germination. They planted runner bean seeds in paper towels to see how seeds grow, and are going to keep track of each step of the germination process.

They've been observing the seeds daily and noting changes, like when they start to sprout and when roots and leaves begin to grow.

By doing this, they will learn about germination, the first stages of a plant's life, and how seeds transform into plants.

We wish you and your family a lovely half term break.

The learners worked so well together. They were a genuine credit to our school. Well done Learning for Life.
