Building Independence at Breakfast Time

We believe that a great day starts with a great breakfast. Every morning from 9:00am to 9:30am, our learners take part in Breakfast Time. It is much more than just a meal. It is an important life skills and communication session that helps learners develop independence, confidence, and everyday skills.

Learners are encouraged to choose their own breakfast and, where appropriate, prepare it themselves with support from team members when needed. From making toast to selecting healthy options, they practise valuable everyday skills while developing communication, decision-making, and social interaction.

Breakfast Time also gives learners the opportunity to connect with friends, follow familiar routines, and prepare for the day ahead in a calm and positive environment.

Most importantly, it provides some much-needed brain food, helping our learners feel energised and ready for phonics and the rest of their learning throughout the day.
