Still PODDing Along at Meridian

We’re still “PODDing it” at Meridian – and it’s going brilliantly.

Since introducing PODD communication boards back in September, they’ve made a big impact in helping us connect with our learners.

With 83% of our children needing support to communicate, PODD has become an incredibly helpful tool across the campus.

Each week, our speech therapists visit classes to support staff in “modelling without expectations” – a key strategy that helps both pre-verbal and verbal learners build confidence and communicate more effectively. It’s been brilliant to see how much progress children are making.

We’re also lucky to have Lorraine from Waverley School visiting us regularly to help train us and strengthen our PODD practice even further.

Emma’s been enjoying using PODD at our monthly online ‘dinner dates.’ These relaxed and friendly sessions are a great way to practice and share a few laughs too.

Our next dinner date is this coming Monday, 16 June from 6.00-6.30pm on Teams. We’ll be talking about how to help keep your child safe online – do join us if you can.
