Black History Month 2024

This October, we've been proudly celebrating Black History Month.

Every year, our staff and learners come together to explore and celebrate the rich heritage and culture of Black communities.

It's a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn more about the contributions of people of African and Caribbean backgrounds to British history.

The very first Black History Month in the UK was in 1987, marking 150 years since the abolition of slavery in the Caribbean.

With so many of our children and staff having African and Caribbean roots, this month has been extra special.

We've been celebrating by:

  • Dressing up
  • Creating beautiful patterns
  • Learning about inspiring Black figures from history

Check out some of the amazing and creative work our learners have produced!

How are you celebrating Black History Month at home? We'd love you to share your photos with us.

Have a fantastic half-term break, and we'll see you back on Monday, 4th November.
